Hello Troop,
This message contains important information regarding summer camp, please review it carefully.
Next key date for summer camp is May 8, 2017: Balance of dues (if any) along with medical forms.
** Annual Health and Medical Record (AHMR) **
All participants (Scouts and Adults) are REQUIRED to turn in TWO (2) copies of the AHMR (Parts A, B, and C signed by your doctor) with a copy of your current insurance on May 8, 2017.
We can only accept hard copies. BSA does not allow Troops to handle digital versions of the form due to privacy concerns.
If you are unable to turn in your two copies on May 8, then a $45 deposit check will be required instead. The deposit will be cashed on June 10, 2017 and kept as a penalty fee if we do not have your updated AHMR on file by then.
This is a change of policy compared to previous years. However, we can no longer accept forms being turned in late as it greatly disrupts our planning efforts for camp. Thank you for your cooperation and for your understanding.
Need the current AHMR form? Please download the latest version here:

Why 2 more copies for camp? Safety is our number 1 priority. Updated parts A and B, along with a valid part C, will allow the leadership to make the most informed decision should a medical emergency occur.
One copy of the full AHMR will be stored at the Health Lodge, the other copy will remain with the Troop on our camp site so we can act fast no matter were we are on the Reservation.
NOTICE: This form is valid only for 12 months following the signature date and must be signed by a healthcare professional. Book your physical exam as soon as possible if you don’t have an updated part C for this year!
You will NOT be allowed under any circumstances to attend summer camp without a valid AHMR on file with the Troop.
** Merit badges **
Reminder: Please sign-up for your merit badges by May 8th. As a reminder, first year Scouts participating in the Brownsea Island Program should NOT sign up for merit badges.

Scouts are highly encouraged to sign up for a MB for each time slot! Please review the MB descriptions: If you select a MB with a prerequisite, you are responsible for completing it prior to camp. Make sure to pay attention to the difficulty level of the MB in the description and refer to the camp map to regroup your MB classes.
Note that there is a sizable hill at Ottari between the upper camp program areas of Nature and Handicraft and the lower camp program areas of Shooting Sports, Scoutcraft, and Aquatics. You should schedule your MB so that you will have time to travel between classes.
Claytor Lake participants are highly encouraged to complete the Virginia Boater Safety Course online BEFORE arriving at camp. Make sure to print your completion certificate and bring it with you. If you do not complete it before going, you will complete it on Sunday when you arrive at camp.
** Informational meeting **
Our Summer Camp Open House will be held on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at 7pm (at Grace Presbyterian Church) and is open to all Scouts and their parents.
We will cover a lot of useful information including personal equipment, medicines, travel plans, and what to expect on day 1. This is a meeting not to miss!
