URGENT MESSAGE TO TROOP 250 PARENTS: ACTION REQUIRED
Greetings Troop 250 Parents!
It is time to re-charter our Troop with BSA. I have recently joined Wes Caudle and assumed the Troop 250 Co-Committee Chair role along with Wes. I am handling this critical task to maintain our membership in good standing with the National BSA organization.
Several of the adult Troop 250 leadership team from our troop will be available at the meeting this week Monday Oct 28th, and next week Monday Nov 4th, at stations that will be set-up in the foyer of Grace. Each Scout’s parent must come to Grace to complete these critical steps to ensure your son can continue to participate in Troop activities for the 2014/15 Scouting year. All of these items need to be submitted in the next 2 Monday’s to consider your son a member of Troop 250 in good standing:
1) BSA Health Forms A & B. If you have not completed an update to BSA Medical Forms A & B with-in calendar year 2013 you must update these forms. If your Form A & B is about to expire in the next 4-6 months I highly recommend you take this time to submit a new one in order to avoid any situations where we cannot take your son on an outing due to incomplete medical records. This is a National BSA requirement. You may find BSA Medical Form A & B at this link: http://www.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/parts_ab.pdf. We recommend parents print them out, complete them, and bring them to Grace when you re-charter your son.
2) Annual Dues: Payment by check or credit card to Troop 250 for $60. We are now excepting credit cards for payment in Troop 250! Our Troop Treasurer will be at one of the stations and can take your credit card using Pay-Pal. There is a $2 extra fee for using the credit card because of the credit card processing fees. This fee will cover your boys 2014 dues to BSA, which includes a year subscription to Boys Life, as well as dues to Troop 250 to cover costs for awards and general Troop functions. IF your son is behind in his personal dues of $2 a month he must at this time also catch-up. We have quite a few boy’s whom are behind in their monthly dues at this time. Your boy should be aware if he is delinquent from the youth leadership team, but an adult leader will have updated list we will check during re-charter.
3) Troop 250 Code of Conduct: Sign and acknowledge the Troop 250 Code of Conduct. This is the Code of Conduct developed by our Troop. We have a zero tolerance policy regarding bullying and other acts that demean and endanger Scouts in our Troop. Scouts and their parents need to sign a letter that acknowledges the Troop policy, which can include permanent expulsion from the Troop 250 organization for this sort of behavior. You may find a copy to review and sign prior to the meeting at this link: http://www.bsa250.org/troop250/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Troop-250-Code-of-Conduct.pdf. Each Scout and parent must sign this.
4) Review of Scouts Personal Information: review our current email, mailing address, etc. to ensure it is correct in the Troop 250 master files.
Thanks!
Yours-in-Scouting,
Mark Pieper
