THE FIRST TROOP 250 WOODCAR CHALLENGE

January 6, 2012 By Camden

Calling All Auto Engineers, Designers, Builders and Racers!!!

This is the Formal Announcement of the FIRST (and hopefully annual) Troop 250 Woodcar Challenge!!!

As I have previously stated in a couple of the Troop Meetings this will be a Team event (2 – 4 cars per team.)

I would prefer that you to participate with your Patrol members. If there is not enough interest in your Patrol to create a Race Team I will accept you teaming up with Scouts in other Patrols to create a Team.

The event will be held on the Saturday, January 28th.

Car Check-in will be at 2pm with racing starting immediately following the Pack 250 Pinewood Derby.

You will have an opportunity to “test” your newly built cars after the Pack test runs are completed on the Friday Night before race day.

We will be racing under Pro Stock Design Rules. These give you more design options for faster cars!

The Design Rules (in .pdf format) are attached to this e-mail. Cars that are built and do not follow these rules will not be allowed to race… Just like the PWD.

If you think your Patrol can build the fastest fleet of cars please let me know you plan on participating.

As the Woodcar Challenge Sponsor I can provide you with a block of wood for your car build, or you can use the wood from a Pinewood Derby kit or even use your own wood as long as it meets the design requirements.

The main body structure of the car must be made of wood.

You and your Team will decide upon and purchase your own axles, tires, etc. or you can use everything that comes in the PWD kits at the Scout Shop.

Team Entry Fee: FREE!!!

A travelling trophy will go to the Patrol that can build the fastest fleet of cars. I will also try to come up with some other nifty prizes that between now and Race Day!

Please call or e-mail me with any questions and / or to register your teams.

Yours in Scouting… and Racing!, Speed Racer Patyk
